Dermal Fillers WolverhamptonAs part of the ageing process, the face tends to lose its “fullness” and volume. The skin is made up of a number of layers. The outermost layer, the epidermis, loses its volume over time. The layer below this, the dermis, becomes depleted of some of the chemicals that are important in maintaining skin structure and shape such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

Dermal filler injections can solve this problem by replacing the structural chemicals back into the skin. They can be used to soften lines, folds, and wrinkles. Unwanted folds and wrinkles can be “plumped up” to reduce their appearance and the volume of the skin can be restored. The overall effect is smoother, younger looking skin.

Dermal fillers treatments are particularly suitable for the lower face:

  • Nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and corner of the mouth)
  • Marionette lines (from the corner of the mouth downwards)
  • Lips (Enhance the shape, definition and volume of lips)

The most commonly used dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid which is one of the natural components of the skin. It is injected into the skin as a gel using a fine needle and the results are visible immediately.

At Skin Health Shropshire, the filler of choice is Juvéderm®. Juvéderm® is the leading dermal filler available on the market and comes with a local anaesthetic which makes the process less painful.

The effects of dermal fillers treatments usually last for 6-9 months, after which, many clients opt to have a top up treatment. With repeated treatments the effects often last longer.

Following a consultation at Skin Health Shropshire, a personalized treatment can be decided upon, suitable for your individual needs.

Are Dermal filler Injections Safe?

Juvéderm® is a temporary filler and has a much safer side effect profile than permanent or semi-permanent filler because it is gradually broken down over time. This is one of the reasons why we prefer to use it in our clinic.

Just like with any injection, there may be some redness, swelling, pain or tenderness at the injection site but reactions to the product itself are rare.

After lip enhancement, some swelling is likely for a short period. The lips are a sensitive area so discomfort during the treatment is most likely here, however, this can be minimised with the use of anaesthetic creams.

At Skin Health Shropshire, we aim for subtle, natural enhancements to the skin and lips. The cost of your treatment includes a review appointment after two weeks to assess the effects. Top ups can be administered if needed.
